Werribee Racing Club appoint Chief Executive Officer

The Werribee Racing Club is pleased to announce the appointment of new Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Crawford, effective the 15th June 2010.
WRC chairman Patrick Wheelahan said “The Club is now debt free and liquidity is solid. I am very impressed with Jeremy Crawford and he has my full confidence that as the Club’s dedicated full time Chief Executive Officer he will drive the growth and success of the Club and the International Horse Centre.” Mr Crawford said he was attracted to the role due to the exciting future that lays ahead for the club and the long running interest he has in the racing industry.
“The Werribee Racing Club is entering a new and focused period of development. Recent upgrades to the facilities, a brand new track and the construction of the International Horse Centre will provide plenty of opportunities for the WRC to resume racing with an impassioned focus.”
Construction of the new International Horse Centre is currently underway and will be a welcome facility for the International horses and their interested parties. “The International contingent for the Spring Carnival will have a dedicated home base and the WRC sees this as an engaging opportunity for the Werribee community and for the wider racing industry.”
Mr Crawford was General Manager of Rydges Hobart after establishing a sales and marketing background. Previously, Mr Crawford worked on the 2007 MotoGP and 2008 Australian Formula 1™ Grand Prix as account manager (corporate hospitality). Racing will return to Werribee on Saturday 4th December 2010 with the Werribee Cup held on March 18th 2011.
